Have you ever wanted to update all your contacts in Ving quickly but weren’t sure how to pull them from Active Directory? No worries — it’s easier than you think, and our team is here to help! Active Directory is like your organization’s local address book, and with help from the right person, getting that contact list is a breeze.
Chances are, you're not the person managing your company’s Active Directory. That’s totally fine. Most organizations have an IT person or team who handles that. So, let’s walk through how you can tap into that valuable info in just a few simple steps.
Step 1: Find Your Friendly AD Admin
First things first — figure out who manages your organization’s Active Directory. This might be someone in IT or HR, depending on your setup. If you're not sure, ask around or send a quick message to your tech team.
Tip: You could say something like, “Hey, quick question — who manages our Active Directory? I’m looking to get a contact list pulled.”
Step 2: Ask for a CSV Export of the Contacts
Once you've found the right person, ask them if they can generate a CSV file of all the contacts in Active Directory. Here is an example import file you can share with them.
Be sure to ask for the following fields if they’re available:

Full Name

Email Address
-
Phone Number
-
Job Title
-
Start Date
-
Leave Date (if applicable)
-
Internal ID (or employee ID)

Step 3 (Optional, but Awesome): Set Up Automatic Updates
If you want to keep your contact list fresh and up to date, ask your AD admin if they can automate the export and send it to you weekly or monthly. That way, you won’t have to keep requesting it manually, and you’ll always have the latest info on hand.
You might get the file emailed to you or saved to a shared folder.
